My love for reptiles began when I was a kid and had a pet turtle as I was allergic to fur.
We lost him way to early to malnutrition ( I know now) and my mother was crushed – She love the little guy.
I sadly lost my mother to cancer in 2003 and while packing my childhood home I found a container in the kitchen draw with some money in it.
I thought long and hard about putting the money to good use and honouring my mother in some way and for some reason, I thought about my turtle and decided to buy one.... and the rest is history.
I quickly found the many online communities and a new world unfolded.
I got my first Leo, Skittles, from a friend in 2004.
She was a bad case of MDB and needed extra love and care.
Her feet were twisted but she was the sweetest thing – Unfortunately I lost her in 2008.
I was scared of crickets and I feed her defrosted dead crickets – Thinking about it makes me giggle – I soon found out that I needed to step up my game and face my fears.
Skittles was the beginning of my love of the leopard gecko and Malibugecko.com is the beginning of fulfilling a dream of breeding on a hobby basis.
Hopefully I will have the opportunity to keep caring and collecting these fine creatures for the rest of my life.
